Vacation Catch Up

Yep, we made it to and from Missouri safely. I think Ben and I are still sane. The first day of traveling started on Thur, the 24th, at 2:00 p.m. It ended around 11:30 when we finally arrived at Nick and Rachel's house just outside of Denver. We'd hoped to get in earlier, but I guess we are slow travelers with two kids. The next morning we got up and ate breakfast with Nick and Rachel and Alexa. The kids had fun playing for a little bit. Then we were off again. We got out at 7:45. And we drove, and drove, and drove. Stopping a bazillion times. We got into Branson around 11:30. The kids wanted to play with Grandma and Papa, so they did. Despite all the stopping, the kids were really pretty good. We didn't use even half my bag of tricks.

Saturday I went to lunch with Morgan and Casey, two of my friends from high school. Good times. Mom and I did a little shopping. Then Mom, Dad, Ben and I took the kids to the lake. It was pretty chilly, since we went in the evening, but the kids didn't seem to mind a bit. Korban was even turning purple and shivering when we took him out, and he screamed because he wanted to stay in the water!

Sunday we had a nice day at church and played some games.

Monday we headed out to the lake with the whole family for swimming, burgers, birthday, and watermelon. It was great. We even managed to make Korban a cake. I can't believe my baby is 1. More on that later. We all had a great time swimming and getting some sun. Ben burnt his back pretty good, but the rest of us avoided sunburns. We had pizza for dinner that night and watched The Help. Or maybe that was the night before.

Tuesday we headed up to Springfield. We stopped and visited my friend Nicole and her new baby. Then on the Bass Pro. Dad showed us the stuff he's been working on, and Kennady and Korban got to check out the alligator, fish and turtles. Then we went for some real cashew chicken. Yum. Sooo good. There has got to be somewhere out here that has it. Ben finally agreed that cashew chicken is good. (Every time we've gotten it out here it's been disgusting). Then we headed back to Nicole's for an impromptu game night. Kennady and Lillie had lots of fun playing, and so did the adults.

Wednesday we headed to Silver Dollar City. Aunt Donna got to come with us for the first part of the day. Kennady was a little tired. But a cinnamon roll, some fun rides, and a super girly pink umbrella with her name on it later, she finally perked up. Mom met us out there for lunch. Barbecue. Brisket, to be exact. We spent the day there riding rides and having fun. Kennady was a little grumpy. She loved some of the rides (the swings were her favorite), but she didn't like the ride where we got squirted. She cried the whole time. Mom watched the kids some so Ben and I could ride big kid rides, and she even took them home and let us stay and play a little longer.

Thursday Ben and Dad started building a deck. Mom and I went and got manicures and pedicures. That pretty much took the whole day.

Friday it rained a lot. Ben and Dad worked on the deck some in the morning. Grandmother Deanna came over and watched the kids, and Mom, Dad, Ben and I went and saw Avengers. We had steak kabobs for dinner. We went mini golfing. The kids really liked that. Then we went to Andy's for the best frozen custard ever. Then Kennady got to ride the Ferris wheel.

Saturday Ben and Dad worked on the deck the whole day. I packed. We left around 6 that night and got to our motel in Lincoln, Nebraska, around 1:00 a.m. The kids slept all the way to Kansas City, and then went back to sleep after a short pit stop. It was the best time we made the whole trip.

Sunday we slept in a little and left around 8:30. We drove alllllllll day. We got into Salt Lake at 11:30. The kids were actually pretty good, for not having gotten to bed on time for an entire week. We did take a lot of potty breaks. Kennady is terrified of automatically flushing toilets. They did wake up as we were coming down the pass, and the both screamed for the last 15 minutes of the drive.

And to think I get to do it again in a month, without Ben! That will be crazy.
